Put the pot on high heat with the lid off. Stirring it while it s cooking activates the starch and makes it either sticky or creamy. Once it starts to boil reduce the heat to low and cover the pot.
Mix the rice and water. For perfect basmati rice you need 1 cup of basmati 1 cups cold water. Of sea salt to a 1 qt.
In a medium saucepan with a tight fitting lid combine rice 2 cups water and teaspoon salt and bring to a boil. Simmer for 50 minutes. Reduce the heat to a simmer and cover the pot.
