How long to cook salmon on grill at 350. Use a flat spatula. To grill salmon on a charcoal grill or gas grill over direct heat place the fish on the grill rack directly over medium heat 350 f to 375 f. Allow 6 to 8 minutes depending on the thickness.
So if your salmon fillet is one inch thick you should grill it for 3 to 4 minutes per side. A general rule of thumb is to grill your fish for 6 to 8 minutes for every inch of fish. Place the salmon at an angle over direct high heat with the flesh side of the salmon on the grates as pictured below.
Close the lid and let the salmon cook for 3 4 minutes. Turn the fish once halfway through grilling if it s thick. Most fillets are an inch or thinner but salmon steaks can be a little thicker so you may need additional time.
Grill covered for 4 to 6 minutes per 1 2 inch thickness or until fish begins to flake when tested with a fork. Open the grill lid and place the salmon skin side down on the hot zone. In general direct heat grilled salmon should take about eight minutes per inch of thickness or about four minutes per side.
