How To Boil Whole Beetroot
Bring a large pot of water to boil.
How to boil whole beetroot. Bring the beets and water to a boil over high heat. Set the pot on one of the eyes of your stove and switch on the cooktop to medium high or high heat. Bring the water in your pot to a boil.
Once the water boils add the beets. Set the uncut beetroots in a saucepan filled with water. Bring to the boil reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes until the beetroot is tender to.
Place the saucepan on medium heat and simmer for around 40 minutes or until the beetroots are tender. If using whole beetroot boil them for 45 minutes to 1 hour. For the pickled beetroot wash and trim the stems of beetroot.
If using cubed beetroot boil the cubes for 15 to 20 minutes. I don t boil for 40 50 minutes or until a fork can pierce the beets easily. You can reduce the heat once boiling if you wish.
A skewer should slide through the thickest part easily to indicate it is cooked. Make sure the water covers the beetroot by a few inches. Allow the water to heat up until it reaches a full rolling boil.
This should take around 8 10 minutes depending on the total volume of your pot. Once the water is boiling carefully add the whole or cubed beetroot. If you re working with different coloured beetroot boil them in separate pots otherwise they ll discolour.
