How To Cook Nice Yam Rice
Peel and dice yam and carrot.
How to cook nice yam rice. Stir fry yam cubes on high heat for roughly 5 minutes till just about cooked. Flavour these with some soya sauce and pepper. Overcooked yam will turn mushy or break up and you might lose the flavour a bit.
Peel off the back of the yam slice to any size shapes and boil for about 15 minutes. Put it into the wok and stir for a while to get them coated with the soya sauce. Drain the water dry and set aside.
Wash 2 cups of rice and strain. Once rice starts to boil add pre fried yam and cover. In a wok add some oil to shallow fry the yam cubes till the sides are slightly brown.
Transfer the rice into your rice cooker and wash and rinse it with water like you are cooking regular steamed rice. Add diced yam and stir fry until partially cooked about 5 minutes. You can use chicken stock in place of water if you want more flavour in the rice.
Remove and drain the yam cubes on a paper towel. Heat up a wok and add cooking oil. I used leftover cooked rice.
It should be soft and well cooked. Heat a little oil fry the garlic till fragrant then add in the yam pieces chicken cubes and dried shrimps and mushrooms. As usual in these kind of rice recipes you will need dried shrimps and mushrooms for the full flavour.
